Character Design commissions
Character design PROCESS
You start by giving me a collection of references and resources to give me an idea of the type of character you would like me to design. During this process, I will offer my opinion and preferences to help you decide, or you can leave it up to me.
Extras
If there are important aspects of the character you would like for there to be additional design work for, for example the face, hair, or weapon, you can also opt for additional design work. In general, there will be 3+ iterations for each of these additional props. The final design will be included as a drawing in the character sheet.
Feedback and changes
Once the design has been nailed down in the “Refinement” stage, you may have one additional feedback round for any minor changes you’d like to make. Additional feedback rounds after this stage OR major changes at any point of the process (where what is considered a "major" change is at the discretion of the artist) will incur an additional fee.
References
If you’re new to getting a character designed, the following information will make it easier for me to design a character!
A verbal description of their appearance, if you have a rough idea (you may not, at this point).
Their personality, backstory, job, hobbies, anything that might affect the way they look.
Reference images of particular items of clothing you would like them to wear.
A moodboard, which is a collection of images that have the “feel” you are going for.
The level of complexity or detail you would like your character to have. This will affect the amount of work required.
Character Sheet
Keep in mind that the character design and character sheet add-ons are priced separately.
By default, each design comes with ONLY the following:
Clean full body drawing with flat colors.
No more than 4 minor callouts for details.
Clean drawing of any additional prop with design work done on it.
Commercial usage rights.
Add-ons
If just a front view is not enough, you can add the following:
Back view drawing
Additional full body drawing
Additional waist up drawing
Additional expression or bust-up drawing
Prop or additional callout (no extra design work required)
Shading
Commercial Rights & Social Media
All commercial rights to the final design are included.
I reserve the right to post the final image on social media and my portfolio. I can also link to your social media posts on Twitter or Instagram, if desired. If you would like for me to avoid posting the image until a certain date, please let me know. In general, I will stream the designing and drawing process on Twitch, and will do so unless informed otherwise. If you want to hang out on the stream, that’s also great! It makes it easier to make adjustments live. You can find me at www.twitch.tv./pikat.
Schedule
Please allow for 1-2 months for the completion of the design, more if there is an excessive amount of back and forth, or if there are other commissions currently in the pipeline. Let me know if you have any kind of deadline — even if it is far in the future, which will give me more time to give your design the attention it deserves. If you have a tight deadline, we may be able to work something out, though I may charge an additional rush fee.
Payment
I accept payment only through Paypal. In general, I take payment up front, but should you feel it necessary, you may pay half up front, and the other half upon completion of the lineart. Work will only begin once the first payment has been received.
Pricing
Please email hello@pikat.io for a quote. Please include a character description, image references if available, and if you require any additional design work or character sheet add-ons.
